Dear Applied Geographers,

It is with pleasure that I invite you to participate in the 32nd annual meeting of the Applied Geography Conferences. Last year, we had a spectacular meeting in Wilmington, Delaware, where close to 200 attendees participated in sessions on applied climatology, hazards, geospatial technology, military geography, environmental studies, and retail geography, among others. Feedback from attendees suggests that this conference was both thought-provoking and academically stimulating, as old friends and new colleagues met to debate practical applications from various geographical perspectives.

So, please join us in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the 32nd conference, October 28-30, 2009. We will meet at Sheraton Baton Rouge Convention Center Hotel (102 France Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Tel: (225) 242-2600,

This year, we have planned a series of special events for all to attend. In particular, we will have field trips on October 31 (Saturday) that take participants through areas affected by Katrina for first-hand observations of how these areas are making their come back. In addition, we will have GIS vendors demonstrate their newest technology that will enable applied geographers to advance their work more effectively. Finally, we will have special receptions to celebrate life-long achievements of applied geographers.

As always, if you have any questions, please let us know. You can contact me via e-mail by clicking on my name below.
